I have recently completed a conservation and restoration project that has been going on for the past two years. I have not been able to consecutively work on it at the request of the client. The project was broken down into phases. The phases include 

1.) Chemically and mechanically cleaning of the over paint: the ornament was completely painted over 7 times by flat wall paint since the beginning of 1900.

2.)  Paint Study: a careful study of the pigments used to ensure accurate conservation.

3.) In-Painting: painting in by means of stipple and conservation paints any areas of loss.

4.) Re-Painting: complete recreation of any areas of complete loss.

5.) New Ornament on Ceiling: Designing and painting of brand new ornament for the coffered ceiling.

6.) "Aged" Glaze Layer: Glaze layer of areas that are completely new to imitate the aged quality of the original work.

7.) MSA Varnish: A complete varnish in matt finish to protect the work with UV blockers.
